Chemes did not pay for energy, says prices are too high
Chemes (Molnár family), the owner of the Humenné industrial park and supplier of heat to the town, did not pay €19m for the last four months of 2022 to its energy supplier VSE, controlled by Germany's E.ON, and switched its supplier to SPP in January. It argues that VSE charged excessive prices for gas and electricity. VSE has not yet succeeded in claiming the debt in court. It is concerned the owners of Chemes may transfer assets to another company and get rid of the debt. They would also get rid of a €1.2m fine the anti-trust authority PMÚ imposed for abuse of a dominant position against Nexis Fibers.
