The European Commission will not allow a preferential 5% VAT rate for rental housing, says PM Robert Fico. He added that without the 5% VAT, investors will not be interested in the program of state-supported rental housing devised by the OĽaNO government. The current government also wants to give cheap rental apartments to teachers and doctors, so it will look for other options. It intends to change the rules in the state housing fund ŠFRB, whose combination of subsidies and loans for rental apartments is used by municipalities.
