EV chargers face dire future in Slovakia

The number of public charging points in Slovakia rose 34% last year to 2,424 in 967 locations. Their installed capacity increased by 52% to 125 MW, the electromobility association Seva reported. It warned that a new directive of regulator ÚRSO may make the operation of such chargers so disadvantageous that operators will start shutting them down en masse. In January, ÚRSO changed the conditions for calculating tariffs for reserved capacity and abolished discounts on the monthly fixed fee. The result is a significant increase in fixed costs, which operators cannot absorb due to the low number of electric vehicles on Slovak roads.
