Kia will produce EV2 and EV4 electric cars in Žilina
Carmaker Kia presented its EV2 and EV4 electric cars, which will be produced in Žilina. The plant now only produces internal combustion engine and hybrid cars, namely the Sportage and Ceed models. It is running at full capacity, having produced 351,000 vehicles last year. It will start production of the EV4 in the second half of 2025 and the EV2 in 2026. The plant has received a €30m state investment incentive for a €108m investment to prepare for the EV production in 2024. The plant plans to end production of the Ceed model, on a date not yet specified by Kia.
VW is preparing to launch production of the electric Porsche Cayenne in Bratislava in a few years. The Stellantis plant in Trnava is already producing EVs, and Jaguar Land Rover in Nitra should start producing them towards the end of the decade. Volvo will launch EV production in Košice at the end of 2026.
