A committee consisting of Globsec (Róbert Vass), architects, and consulting firms has recommended that the government award a €60m subsidy towards a new congress center in Bratislava to Nový Istropolis, a project of developer Immocap (Peter Lukeš and Michal Lazar). The Nové Lido project of developer J&T Real Estate came up second and Incheba’s expansion third. The committee says Nový Istropolis is a realistic project that can be carried out relatively soon. The two unsuccessful bidders criticize the way the committee conducted the selection process. Nový Istropolis has a budget of €104m and it will be owned by Globsec. The government will decide on the subsidy shortly. (sme.sk)
The Value for Money unit acknowledges that Bratislava needs a congress center but calls for comparison with other alternatives. (HzP)
Finance Minister Igor Matovič says the selection process is a “shitty deal” and will only provide a subsidy for a congress center if a transparent public tender is held.
