New mortgages sold for less than 1%

The average interest rate on new mortgages fell to a new all-time low of 0.97% in November, central bank NBS data show. The average interest rate on all mortgages fell to 1.26% in November. Back in January 2009, the average stood at 6.12%. The November drop came as a surprise since the three large banks (SLSP, VÚB and Tatra banka) did not respond to record-cheap mortgages offered by UniCredit, Fio banka, and Prima banka.
