The government is so late with its tender to select a new truck toll operator that it has lost any chance of launching the new system in January 2023. The tender gives the new operator 15 months to build the system and only 14 months are left until SkyToll’s contract expires at the end of 2022. The tender is delayed by bidders' objections and its completion date is uncertain. The government will either extend the contract with SkyToll (Petr Syrovátko) or temporarily return to the paper highway stickers system. Given the huge fees SkyToll charges, the paper stickers would keep the state's net revenue unchanged. SkyToll may even collect another hefty bonus as the government considers buying its system.
