PW Energy (Milan Jankura and Ivo Šafranko) plans to invest €108-120m into two geothermal power plants with a combined output of 13 MW in Žiar nad Hronom. During the first Smer government, Jankura served as head of NAMSP, the SME agency. There are no geothermal power plants in Slovakia, as underground water is not hot enough. PW Energy aims to bypass this by using a liquid with a lower boiling point. They will apply for EU funds for the project.
