Credit rating agency S&P confirmed Slovakia's A+ rating with a stable outlook. Concerns over a potential rating downgrade following the new coalition’s lukewarm fiscal consolidation plans have not yet materialized. The agency merely noted that it expects the new government to reduce fiscal deficits. The rating may also be downgraded in the event of unorthodox economic policies, rule of law violations and problems in the local automotive sector. Slovakia's public finance deficit will be the highest in the EU in 2024-25.
