Slovakia 5th-worst country in terms of Covid-19 deaths

The World Health Organization has declared an end to Covid-19 as a global health emergency. Although Slovakia coped well with the first wave, further waves were another story and the country was the 5th-worst country globally in terms of deaths. In total, Covid-19 caused 6.9m deaths worldwide and 26,000 in Slovakia. Slovakia's number of deaths per million inhabitants per day was 4.0, lower than in Hungary (4.3) but higher than in Czechia (3.4), Poland (2.7) and Austria (2.1). All V4 countries ranked among the TOP20 globally, apparently because of the high share of industrial production (easy virus transmission and impossibility of home office), poor health systems, lack of trust in authorities and resistance to vaccination.
