Slovakia ranks 27th out of 71 countries in Allianz Pension Index
Slovakia ranks 27th out of 71 countries in the Allianz Pension Index. Over the last two years, Slovakia has improved by nine places and is the best performer in the CEE region after Bulgaria and Czechia. Allianz assesses the demographic and fiscal situation, as well as the sustainability and adequacy of the pension system. Slovakia's improvement reflects a return to linking retirement age to life expectancy. The most sustainable pension systems, according to Allianz, are in Denmark, the Netherlands, and Sweden. Allianz points out that although Slovakia has improved, it has a huge problem with demography, namely a low birth rate and an ageing population.
