If they were to retire now, 28% of Slovaks would want a pension of €800-€1,000, 26% between €1,000-€1,200 and 19% €1,200-€1,600, a Porto survey showed. In November 2024, the average pension was €683. Some 30% of Slovaks do not save for their retirement at all. The survey also showed a decline in the already low investment literacy. While in 2021 the index was set at 100 points as a baseline, in 2024 it reached 94.4 points. Only 29% of Slovaks, for example, understand the principle of compound interest.
