Slovalco lost €9.1m in 2023
Slovalco, an aluminum smelter owned by Norsk Hydro (55%) and Penta (45%), lost €9.1m last year, after a net profit of €218m for 2022. Its sales fell from €650m to €99.5m. It shut down aluminum production early last year and booked its record 2022 profit thanks to selling electricity. Last year, only a small recycling line continued and the number of workers fell from 417 to 216. The company is in talks with the government for support to restart production, but no results have been disclosed.
