U.S. Steel Košice still in the red

U.S. Steel Košice reported a €9m loss before tax and depreciation in the second quarter due to low steel prices. It reported a €15m profit in the first quarter, only its second quarterly profit since mid-2022. All of U.S. Steel posted a €209m profit in 2Q. The Košice steel mill accounts for a quarter of the group's output. It expects a loss in the third quarter as well, due to weak construction activity in the region.
